Nam..Will We Ever Be The Same?

As you know I am a Nam vet. I found this picture of a friend of mine and me back in 1969. I was in the 23rd Infantry Division with the 3/18 Arty. We supported the Marines and Special forces in I Corp. We had 175 and 8" Self-Propelled Howitzers. The biggest guns in the Nam war. We were stationed outside Chu Lai, the Marine Airbase where they flew to Hanoi daily on bombing missions. We rotated constantly to various LZ's throughout the Americal Division and I Corp. I was at An Khe most of the time in C Battery. Unfortunately the American public stabbed us in the back along with our government and we were forced to retreat and the government lost the war and many more American friends died without purpose. Please don't murder our troops again this time, in Iraq. When you retreat you die there.. And if you didn't die there, you did back home as Nam Vets found out, by the hatefulness of the American public and media. We thank you all, who did support us back then. You know, we never lost a battle in Viet Nam, not one! What we lost were thousands of our friends, the children of America and the future they could have made for us here at home today, a future which now is a country without courage and patriotism and a government now destroying the Nam Vet without granting their benefits. God bless our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. We love you women and men, we really do. You are welcome back here this time, anytime and anywhere. Please come and see us at the Wall.
